Overview
Illustrations accompanying an essay on the ecology of guitars and their impact on cultural development.
This project, loosely inspired by (or modelled on) the illustrations of Bryan Lee O’Malley, was an accompaniment to an essay on the ecology of everyday objects. The essay revolved around electric guitars, their place in the cultural, sonic, and sub-cultural history of music. It explored what they represent iconographically - the music and musician we associate with a certain silhouette - and interpersonally. The accompanying visuals gave homage to the cult-classic comic “Scott Pilgrim Vs The World”, as it seemed fitting given that - amongst musicians - certain guitars invoke their own cult followings.
